Foundation landscaping is a simple, cost-effective way to achieve a clean, weed-free natural barrier that looks great. The example below utilizes 1/2 inch bluestone, 4 x 4 pressure treated lumber and landscape fabric underneath. I also incorporated a 24″ X 24″ piece of bluestone as a step because there was a 10″ drop from the door threshold down to the ground.
Start by removing the soil adjacent to the foundation, down to 4-6″. Then place the lumber and stone to verify distance measurements. Use stakes and line to ensure a straight line. Remember to install landscape fabric before filling in the stones to prevent weeds.
